The summer transfer window will officially open in three days for Liverpool and other Premier League clubs.
Arne Slot will be hopeful of bolstering his squad in the coming weeks as he prepares for his first season in charge at Anfield, though he may have to move certain individuals on before this can be made possible.
Liverpool’s recruitment this time last year focused on the midfield department, but 12 months on attention is likely to shift to addressing the attack and defence.

De Ligt chance
Bayern Munich are said to be considering selling Matthijs de Ligt this summer, offering Liverpool a potential shot at signing the centre-back. Indeed, Sky Germany have explained the Dutch defender is a “candidate for sale” as Bayern look to raise revenue this summer by selling players.
It is claimed the Bundesliga club “want to save on his high salary” and are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Chelsea star Levi Colwill as possible replacements.
The Reds were previously linked with the 24-year-old back in 2019 prior to his move from Ajax to Juventus, though a deal failed to materialise.
The Liverpool ECHO says: This would be a smart transfer for the Reds, if they are able to pull it off. De Ligt would slot straight into the Liverpool defence alongside his fellow countryman, Virgil van Dijk, and would be well-equipped to handle the demands of the division. Still only 24 years of age, Slot would be able to enjoy the defender’s best years, ensuring the Reds would be getting value for money. There has been no suggestion at this stage Liverpool’s admiration of five years ago has resurfaced, though.
Forest ‘deadline’
Nottingham Forest must raise £20million in transfer sales before June 30 to ensure they continue to comply with financial rules, giving Liverpool an added incentive in their reported pursuit of Murillo. The Reds have been named as one of the Premier League clubs “monitoring” the centre-back, who enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the Premier League despite his side fighting against relegation.
Murillo is understood to be one of the players Forest will look to cash in on, along with Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, in order to alleviate their financial woes.
It has previously been stated Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will demand in excess of £50million for both players, with the Tricky Trees of the opinion Murillo could at some stage reach a valuation worth £70m.
The Liverpool ECHO says: Liverpool have been tracking a left-footed centre-back since last summer and are yet to strike a deal for this profile of player. If a deal can be done for Forest in the region of £50m, this would be a fair price for an individual who has already shown real promise in a struggling side. His age (21) fits the range Liverpool usually aim for, meaning it would not be unthinkable for the Reds to consider a swoop.
