Young men’s idleness and filthy little habits are once again causing issues for society. Last week, the MP Mel Stride said easy access to pornography and video games are a “prevalent factor” behind a surge in male joblessness.
According to the latest Office for National Statistics numbers, one in seven young men are now not in employment, education or training, while for young women, the figure is closer to one in ten. And so out come the usual scapegoats when young men are involved: porn and video games.
“I do think probably as a society we haven’t explored and fully opened up exactly what this technology means for young people’s mental health because I think the impacts are actually very profound,” Stride said.
