Stephen Mulhern, who is currently mourning the death of his beloved father, was rushed to hospital after the Deal or No Deal star collapsed at a Pizza Express.

According to The Sun,  the TV favourite had been drinking with his meal when he allegedly reacted to anaestheic he had for an operation earlier that day.

It is understood an ambulace was called after staff became concerned for the 47-year-old at approximately 8pm on Wednesday night (November 27).

The publication claims he was checked over by paramedics before he was taken to Sunningdale, Berks, to nearby Frimley Park hospital in Camberley, Surrey, as a precaution.

A source told the outlet: “He’s been battling several well-documented health problems and on Wednesday morning had a procedure requiring a local anaesthetic.

“He took himself off for a quiet, solo dinner that evening, had a few drinks and reacted badly. He’s only human, and his dad’s death has hit him hard.

“Stephen immediately felt unwell and concerned staff came over, and called 999. Paramedics checked him over and took him to hospital as a precation.”

The insider reassured fans that the presenter is “recovering well at home” and is “so grateful for the care he received”. They added that despite being on the mend, hs is “mortified that he had such an awful – and public – reaction to the anaesthetic.”

It is believed that stephen has been given continuous support by his team, ITV bosses and his long-term pal Holly Willoughby – who is his co-host on Dancing on Ice and You Bet!

It comes after the quizmaster announced the tragic death of his father Christopher las month. Stephen was forced to pull out of commitments with Butlin’s holiday parks  at the time.

The TV favourite has spoken fondly about growing up with his dad in London’s East End as the youngest of four children.

It is understood the broadcaster, who was once the youngest member of the Magic Circle, was introduced to tricks by his dad and honed his skills while working on his market stall.

His father’s passing was a fresh blow for Stephen, who has been battling health problems over the last few years. In April, he was forced to miss an episode of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway due to illness, leaving Jordan North to take over his segment.

And in March 2022, The Sun on Sunday revealed he had been taken to hospital with an unknown condition.
