Maryville business selling shirts to raise money for fallen Blount County officer’s family

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – As a family continues to mourn the loss of Deputy Greg McCowan, a business in downtown Maryville is making sure that they have financial help moving forward.

Pokey’s and Sports has started selling shirts that pay tribute to McCowan for $20 each.

“Everybody wanted to do something, and this t-shirt was something everyone could do, and I wish it was more,” said Julie Nelson, who bought a shirt.

All of the proceeds from the shirts will go directly to the McCowan family, and so far, there have been more than 500 of them made.

As people walk through the front doors of this local business, there’s a reason behind every order of one of these shirts.

“Some of these people went to our church, and some of the people we know knew these people personally,” said John Lindboe.

Management at Pokey’s and Sports said as orders come in, they’ll continue to print and sell shirts for as long as people want them.
