Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane released the trailer of his upcoming series Jubilee, which explores the dark corners of the film industry filled with greed and jealousy. The series stars Aparshakti Khurana, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sidhant, Ram Kapoor and Prosenjit Chatterjee in pivotal roles in a series that is set in formative years of Hindi film industry.

Jubilee trailer shows Aparshakti as Binod Das, who is a trusted aide of a film studio. He is sent by the owner of Roy Talkies, played by Prosenjit, to bring his wife’s lover and star-in-the-making Madan Kumar (Nandish Sandhu) to him. When Kumar dies in an accident, Binod takes his place. The trailer brings forth the dark side of the film industry, which is overshadowed by the glitz and glamour that is seen by everyone. The story is set against the backdrop of Bombay (now Mumbai) in the year 1947, when Hindi cinema was finding its wings.

Aditi Rao plays the role of Savitri Kumari, wife of the studio owner. In the trailer, Ayushmann gives the narration and describes the film industry when he says, “This business we are in…showbiz…everyone loves talking here. The one who stays quiet wins the race.”

Aparshakti had introduced his character in Jubilee through his social media account recently. He had posted his character’s image from the series and written, “a trusted aide at Roy Talkies, making his way through a series of circumstances on his journey to stardom! welcome ‘Binod Das’”.

Vikramaditya Motwane said in a statement, “While the series is set in that celebrated era of cinema, at its core, Jubilee is a very human story, with narrative themes that will resonate with everyone – which is what drew me to the story in the first place. We’ve painstakingly researched each aspect of the series to remain true to its era.”

Jubilee is a 10-episode series, which is divided into two parts. The first part, which will stream on Prime Video from April 7, will have five episodes and the remaining five episodes will stream later from April 14.
