DANBURY — Consistent business growth and expansion in the area has led the leaders of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce and Brookfield Chamber of Commerce to join forces.

Effective on March 31, both organizations are combining their chambers to provide better services and more opportunities for growth.

Leaders of both organization believe the merge makes sense at this time on many levels.

“The Board of Directors is pleased with the decision to bring together both organizations,” Martin G. Morgado, chairman of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, said in a prepared statement. “The integration of both organizations will expand our reach in the local communities that we serve, support business advocacy, and educational offerings.”

The merger comes less than a year after the Newtown Chamber of Commerce combined with the Greater Danbury Chamber

Under the leadership of President and Chief Executive Officer P.J. Prunty, the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce will continue its long tradition of serving the Danbury area and will incorporate many of the initiatives and events that were founded by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce.
